To be fair to my mum though, I totally panicked, couldn't understand the pattern and she knitted me through it ... even though she's never knitted a sock before (but knitted plenty of everything else mind!) she just calmly worked her way through with the hedgehog of needles and produced a lovely heel with me. So, thanks, mum!
Now you know why I only ever knit on a Sunday afternoon visit to my mother's house ...
