CONGRATULATIONS!

Yesterday my daughter found out what her GCSE results were - everyone was extremely nervous so it was like walking on eggshells but we all knew in our heart of hearts that she would have done well. She worked hard and the "mock results" at Christmas were really promising, so unless something major went on, then we all knew she'd be ok (even if she didn't think so). And lets face it, it's not the end of the world, she could retake if the worst happens. It didn't. She got 11 all told, 6 "B" grades, 5 "C" grades and 1 "D" grade (for RE), she doesn't need it, no biggie.

The biggest surprise for her was a "B" grade for Welsh. She was totally convinced that she'd failed it and even said so straight after her oral exam. She told me that she honestly didn't think she'd pass as she hardly got anything back, but there it was. A "B". Brilliant. I'm chuffed!

I never did post pictures of her prom did I? We trawled around a few shops before going into some bridal shops which have obviously cottoned on to proms now and are starting to specialise in them too. I told her not to pick what she wanted and not to compromise. Well, she's the only one I've got, it's the only prom she's going to so why not?

All she knew was that she wanted a short dress and in red. That was it. Nothing else. She tried on quite a few and the shop assistant insisted that she tried on one long one, just in case, but to be honest, it didn't suit her and it just confirmed it.

Whilst she was changing into yet another one, I sat outside and looked around at all the lovely dresses hanging up and there was one that was just sticking out slightly, it was in lilac but the cut looked lovely. Very 50's and bang on trend. I pointed it out to her but she didn't really fancy it, but the more she looked at it, the more she liked it, then asked to try it on.

Perfect. But the wrong colour. She had it made ...

Weather was crap but she had a brilliant time and that was all that mattered.

College in September and it all starts again ...

Congrats to Bec on her exam results. She looks great in her prom dress.
